· Worship is a way of life.

God created us to worship – to perform acts of honor and love, homage and devotion. It’s in our DNA. By purposefully doing everything, even the most insignificant of tasks, to glorify God, we worship Him. It becomes a way of life and we are fulfilled.

 

· We have been created by God to express ourselves creatively. These expressions are one facet of our worship life with God.

As part of our DNA, there is an inherent craving in each of us that longs to shout out who we are, what we think, and how we feel. In a church setting these expressions often take the form of art. Of music, dance, painting, acting, film making, and basket weaving – yes, even basket weaving. These expressions of ourselves have a twofold benefit. One, we get to worship God and grow our relationship and worship life with Him. Second, we get to lead others into worship with God. We can give them an outlet of worship they may not have thought of themselves.

 

· Music is a very important part of worship.

The most popular outlet of worship as it pertains to the arts is music. In the life of e-Vin it has focused importance. The generations we aim to reach – the X’ers, Y’ers, Millennials, or whatever they’re being called by sociologists now – connect to music on a much deeper level than previous generations. Just look at the secular music of today. The vividness of emotion that courses through each song is hard to ignore. The lyrics are poignant, heartfelt, and in some cases downright face-punching. For a generation of people longing for something passionate, tangible, and real, they connect to the music in more intimate ways than ever.

 

· For these generations, church music must change.

Here at e-Vin we in no way believe we have a corner on the music market. We do, however, believe that something different has to be done to allow these generations to connect to God through music. Whether the music be punk, ska, hardcore, emo, or, yes, even country, we will strive to make it excellent and culturally relevant.
